With springtime prevailing in most Northern Hemisphere regions, it’s time for the return of cherry blossoms in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players in the northern regions can experience the cherry blossom season from April 1 to April 10. Meanwhile, those playing in the Southern Hemisphere will have to wait until October 1 for the blossoms to bloom.

During this limited period, fruitless hardwood trees on your island turn pink, and you catch cherry blossom petals falling from the sky. Accompanying this season is also a set of cherry blossom DIY recipes that are beautiful, but tough to collect too. Read on to know the details about obtaining the entire set before the season ends.

How to unlock cherry blossom DIY recipes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

After a whole year of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players may be familiar with the working of seasonal DIY recipes and crafting materials. When the cherry blossom season starts, you will receive the recipe for the Outdoor Picnic Set from Isabelle during her daily announcement. However, getting the rest is slightly tricky as they can only be obtained from the balloon presents that fly overhead.

During the ten days of the season starting April 1, any regular balloon that spawns in the sky can contain a crafting recipe for a cherry blossom item. Therefore, shooting down as many as possible with slingshots is the best bet to increase your chances of getting these recipes.

Another thing to look out for is the Bunny Day balloons, which will spawn alongside the regular balloons until April 4. This is because of the four-day overlap of the Bunny Day and cherry blossom seasons this year. However, April 5 onwards only the normal balloons will fly again, making it easier for players to collect the coveted cherry blossom recipes.

Collecting cherry blossom petals to craft DIY items

Now that you have unlocked the DIY recipes, you will need to collect cherry blossom petals to craft them into corresponding items. Similar to some other seasonal crafting materials, these petals float around in the air and can be caught using a net. Be careful though, as they will disappear if you run into them or take too many attempts to catch them.

To craft one of each fourteen items from the cherry blossom DIY set, you will require 86 cherry blossom petals. Besides, they are only available during the ten days of the cherry blossom season. So collecting all the ones you spot is the best approach.
