Planting and selling fruit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Selling fruit is one of the best ways to start making Bells early on in New Horizons. Currently, there are six fruits in the game including apples, cherries, peaches, pears, oranges, and coconuts. Each island comes with its own native fruit and it sells for 100 Bells a piece.

To get started, you simply need to shake trees, collect the fruit, and then sell it. However, there’s a bit of depth to this process that can guarantee you with additional Bells. You can bring over all the fruits to your islands by visiting other islands. The reason for doing this is that fruits non-native to your island sell for 500 Bells each, except for coconuts that go for 250 Bells a piece.

Planting fruits in the ground instead of selling them immediately is a great way to maximize your profits. If you plant one fruit and grow it into a tree by waiting for 3-4 days, it will end up bearing three fruits. Obviously, you can then shake the tree and it will continue to produce fruits again in a few days.

Catching and selling rarer bugs and fish

Catching a variety of bugs and fish is not only the favorite pastime of many New Horizons players but also one of the best ways to make quick bucks in the game. These critters cycle in and out periodically, so it’s good practice to keep track of the available ones.

Players can sell the bugs and fish they catch at Nook’s Cranny right away. However, if you are not in urgent need of Bells, waiting for a special visit from Flick and CJ can maximize your income. Flick and CJ both will pay you 50% more than Nook’s Cranny for bugs and fish, respectively.

One can also sell the newer deep-sea creatures, which were added to the game at later date. Although, no special vendor is present to buy these sea creatures from you at inflated prices. Keep an eye out for the rarer critters like a golden trout or a scorpion while exploring your island as they are worth thousands of Bells.

Digging up and selling fossils

Fossils are another easy way to earn money in New Horizons. They require little effort to gather using a shovel, the only challenge is to find where they spawned on your island.

Usually, at least four fossil cracks will appear every day for you to find out. However, if they go uncollected, two more will spawn the next day. This means the most amount of fossil spawns on an island at once is six.

Obviously, the primary focus should be on completing the Museum’s exhibits with new fossil discoveries. However, selling duplicate ones will bag you large amounts of Bells. It’s important to remember to have the dug-up fossils accessed by Blathers at the Museum before taking them to sell at Nook’s Cranny.

Crafted items sell for double the value of raw materials in Animal Crossing: new Horizons

If you have an overabundance of materials such as rocks or a certain type of wood, consider crafting them into furniture items prior to selling. Simply selling away the extra materials works, too. However, using your collected DIY recipes to convert those spare materials into crafted items and then selling them will help you net even more Bells.

Make sure to check out the hot item for the day on your island at Nook’s Cranny. These hot items could end up being an item you can craft and Timmy and Tommy will offer a fair deal for them.

Trading turnips using the Stalk Market in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Last but not the least, buying and selling turnips from the Stalk Market is another great way to earn Bells in a very efficient way. It is also one of the riskiest ways of making a fortune in New Horizons and is quite relatable in real life.

Daisy Mae will visit your island each Sunday till noon, and you can buy as many turnips from her as you want in batches of 10. The price of these turnips varies from week to week and generally ranges within 90 to 110 Bells. After acquiring the turnips, visit Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny the next day to check the buying price they are willing to offer.
