The much-awaited Animal Crossing: New Horizons x Sario collaboration will begin today. The collaboration was first announced on March 15 with the first anniversary update.

The reason why these cards are so sought after is that this is the first time they will be available outside Japan. This collaboration initially existed in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. This will be the reprint of those cards and will be available in multiple countries.

In their blog post, Nintendo revealed “Starting March 26, the Animal Crossing Sanrio Collaboration Pack will be available for purchase at Target stores across the U.S. at a suggested retail price of $5.99. You’ll be able to use these six vibrantly designed amiibo cards to invite cute and colorful Animal Crossing residents inspired by popular Sanrio characters to your island, including Rita, Chai, and Toby.

“These amiibo cards exchange bells for special Sanrio-themed furniture and fashion items in-game, too. You can even invite these characters to Harv’s Island for a fun photo session in Photopia.”

How to celebrate the Animal Crossing x Sanrio collaboration

In the United States, Target is the only authorized retailer of these cards. Furthermore, due to the immense demand for these cards, they will primarily be available on Target’s online website.

Each pack will cost $5.99 plus tax and contain six cards. Unlike previous issues, each pack will contain the same set, and is also reusable. Thus, if you want to temporarily unlock these characters on your friend’s Nintendo Switch, you can do so.

These cards will be available across Target stores in the United States from Friday 8 a.m. CT. In order to ensure that there is no hoarding of these cards for a resale profit, Target has limited each guest to 2 packs. Thus, if you wanted to gift your fellow Animal Crossing player a pack, you could do so.

Other retailer’s across the world include:

  • Canada: Best Buy and Amazon
  • United Kingdom: Nintendo official store
  • Italy: Amazon
  • Spain: xtraLife and GAME
  • Australia: Amazon, EBGames, and The Gamesmen

Last, you must be aware of bootleg amiibo cards. Players may look to make a quick buck off of your excitement, and while these cards may appear similar, they are nothing but a scam. Hence, you should only purchase them from authorized retailers.
