This has been a year of surprising remakes and outstanding sequels. It started with the Dead Space Remake, the ultimate retelling of a creepy take, and was followed by none other than the Resident Evil 4 Remake. If these were not enough, Metroid Remastered came. Spider-Man 2 fulfilled the requirement of the ultimate sequel of them all.
But it looks like fans of small indie games, too, are going to get a surprise very soon. One of the best simulation games out there is about to get a sequel as soon as next year. And chances are it might get announced during the Game Awards!

Simulation games are all the rage for some gamers. Flight Simulator, Surgeon Simulator, House Flippers—all kinds of games are released every now and then. The best part is that most of them end up being pretty successful. This means these games are being made by a very passionate bunch of people. Hence, when they decide they will make a sequel, it might take them a while to finish it. Maybe that’s why there has not been a sequel to Prison Architect in 8 years.
But now, after this very long wait, fans might just be getting a sequel. The sequel to this very quirky simulation game has been rated in Korea. The game was spotted by some eagle-eyed fans on Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee. The curious part is that it was rated not very long ago. It was rated this month itself. This means its launch might not be very far away.
The game has yet to receive an official announcement. The developers, Introversion Software, and publisher, Paradox Interactive, have yet to make any kind of announcement in regards to this announcement. One can’t help but wonder if the developer will be announcing it during the upcoming Game Awards 2023 showcase.

But one important question that comes to mind is that, was a sequel necessary right now? Considering the level of interest the developers paid to their first game, is it the right time?

It’s not as if the first game had any shortage of content, though!
The sequel had been a long time coming. But one must not mistake this delay for the developer’s lack of interest in the first game. They have been releasing multiple ports for it, from Nintendo Switch to Mobile. And they have also been working tirelessly on new updates and content for this title.

One cannot help but wonder what exactly the developers will bring to the sequel. Maybe fans would finally be able to create massive, realistic-looking prisons. Or maybe the developers would this time allow players to build much larger prisons? These questions are going to be answered when developers announce them.
