Often it is seen that companies, under the pressure of sudden developments, tend to put some things on the back burner. Likewise, Nintendo did the same with the sequel to Detective Pikachu, after announcing it in 2019. Although, a recent development tells the community that the game will be getting escalated in the list of priorities.

Nintendo fans have been treated and gifted with many releases this year. Moreover, the Nintendo Direct organized a few weeks ago, unleashed titles like Golden Eye and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as upcoming releases. And something has taken place in the Nintendo team that hints at the ‘nearing release’ of the much-awaited game.

Is Detective Pikachu’s sequel finally nearing its release?

Previously, in 2019, a sequel to Detective Pikachu was first highlighted in front of the community. The first version of the game was supported on the 3DS console of Nintendo. And it was understood that the new game would be either ported or released on the same console. But luckily, the community got their hands on Nintendo Switch in the meantime.

While the Switch rocks in the industry, it can see the adventure game’s sequel appearing on it. This comes from a report by IGN, wherein they stated that “senior game programmer at developer Creatures Inc. Jonathan Murphy mentions Detective Pikachu 2 on his LinkedIn page.” Moreover, it said, “Describing his current job position, Murphy said he “worked on one unannounced project and one nearing release, Detective Pikachu 2”.”

Though nothing has been officially announced yet, this surely becomes a solid development. Hence, fans could finally see the cinematic adventure game’s sequel, which was announced in 2019, getting its recognition in the coming months.

While new games and developing consoles enter the market, Nintendo has started bidding farewell to the legendary consoles 3DS and Wii U. Nintendo has made it clear about its intention to discontinue eShop services on the two consoles from March 2023. On August 29, 2022, the gaming company rolled out a notification revising the stoppage of adding funds and the procedure of redeeming download codes for the console.

Recently, Nintendo informed the community about two more features getting knocked down from the consoles. People will be unable to link their Twitter or Facebook account to a Nintendo account from October 25, 2022. This also applies to the Nintendo Switch. While a balance is maintained, fans can still look forward to solving cases with Pikachu, and that too on Switch.
