Ever since Nintendo started making games and consoles, the Japanese giant has come up with tons of unique offerings. Alongside the most popular devices and titles, there have been some projects that have completely failed to impress the people.

One such Nintendo product in recent years has to be the Labo. The one-of-a-kind concept from the Mario maker made its debut just few years ago and it’s already lost its sheen. To be precise, it’s nowhere to be seen these days.

Why has Nintendo Labo failed to attract the eyeballs?

The Labo ‘toys-to-life’ concept was developed by Nintendo and arrived in the year 2018. In case anyone is not aware of it at all, the Labo consists of two parts.

One part is the game while the other one comprises of various cardboard sheets. The games are part of kits, including cardboard cut-outs. Along with other materials, they have to assembled in combination with the Switch’s console display and Joy-Con controllers.

Upon its launch four years ago, Nintendo Labo received mixed reactions. Yes, many people were intrigued by the idea of the overall product itself, but there was something that didn’t click with them. Going by the price, then the Variety Kit and Robot Kit for the Labo were not that costly, coming at $69.99 and $59.99 respectively. Most of the gamers didn’t have a problem as the cost was not unexpectedly too much.

However, others saw it as an insignificant investment since all they had to to was to buy several pieces of cardboard. Nintendo tried to assure such fans by revealing that the components of Labo could be repaired easily and there was nothing to worry about. But the skeptical minds didn’t seem to be interested.

As a result, the Nintendo Labo has now become nearly extinct to say the least. Adding to the misery of the product are the negative reviews that have probably played a crucial role in keeping the consumers away. For example, several outlets, in the past, mentioned that the Labo lacked the replayability factor.

Most importantly, though, the biggest reason of its rapidly decreasing craze among the fans is the lack of support. Although, it hasn’t witnessed a tremendous success, the Labo has sold decently. Despite that, Nintendo has seemingly stopped providing any additional support whatsoever. Maybe the Mario maker has realized that it won’t result into a massive profit.
