Amidst the Death Stranding 2 Sequel Rumors, Hideo Kojima May Have a Special Announcement Lined Up for Fans at the Game Awards 2022

For the last couple of months, Hideo Kojima has been teasing the fans about his upcoming project. With cryptic tweets and mysterious posters, the fanbase is getting hyped to the brim. But the limited information is also causing some serious frustration.

Hideo Kojima teases a potential announcement of his new game at Game Awards 2022

On December 8, 2022, Hideo Kojima posted another cryptic tweet about his upcoming project. But this time the tweet has aggravated the community to new heights as the tweet features a brand new poster that features another face that seems very familiar to the fans. This tease is brewing a new storm of speculation on the internet.

The tweet had the words – “WHO” “WHERE” “HOW” and now “WHY”, in the caption and a poster with shadowy faces. Fans pointed out, two out of the three faces look similar to the previously confirmed stars for the project, Elle Fanning and Shiori Kutsuna. But the third face was veiled in mystery. 

According to the fans’ speculation, the third face looks very similar to Léa Seydoux. Léa played the role of “Fragile” in Kojima’s previous game “Death Stranding”. This re-casting of the same actress has sparked the community to speculate that this could be a potential hint that Kojima’s next project is none other than the long-rumored Death Stranding 2. 

The upcoming Game Awards 2022 may be the venue for the special announcement of this highly anticipated project. As it is already expected that Hideo Kojima will appear in the show with his close confidant Geoff Keighley. And according to recent leaks, a special teaser or announcement by Kojima is already set for the event.

This theory gained even more ground as the official Twitter account of Game Awards 2022, retweeted the tease by Hideo Kojima. So far, there haven’t been any official announcements or statements from Kojima Productions or the Game Awards officials. With the teases and rumors, fans would expect at least an official announcement from the Legendary Metal Gear Solid director, Hideo Kojima, at the event.

The Game Awards 2022 will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, with an invited audience. Geoff Keighley will be the host of the show. The online streams will begin at 4:30 p PT/7:30p ET/12:30a GMT. The stream will be available on YouTube and Twitch.
