Bloodborne is considered by many to be one of the best games FromSoftware has ever created. That game was released to a universally positive reception, and many fans still play that game years later. Set in a Gothic Lovecraftian setting, the game has become a cult classic since its release due to its challenging gameplay, intricate lore, and unique setting.
However, even this ‘perfect’ game had some issues, preventing fans from enjoying it completely. They have been trying to remind Sony of this fact so they can get a proper remake of this game, just like Demon Souls for PlayStation 5. That has yet to happen, but it looks like the next best thing is on its way!

Bloodborne is pretty much a perfect game; its combat is fluid and responsive, its characters are very interesting, and its world is intriguing. Its boss fights are pretty much nightmare fuel for those who enter this game without knowledge. All these things exist, and if one looks for a flaw, one finds only a few, and most of them are performance- or graphic-based.
Although its aesthetics are still appealing, the charm of Victorian-era London is not lost on people yet, it seems. The game does not offer a flawless performance, though. It runs at 30 FPS, and it dips those frames in a number of places. And that’s why fans wanted a remake, if not a sequel.
But from the looks of things, that won’t be happening soon. FromSoftware is currently working hard on its upcoming Elden Ring DLC, and Sony’s focus seems to have been shifted to other first-party PlayStation games than Bloodborne.
Hence, when a small studio by the name of ‘Round8 Studio’ announced their new game called Lies of P, people were curious. This game nicely placed Pinocchio in a horrific, broken city, ala Yharnam of Bloodborne. This city, too, is inspired by the Victorian era and is well past its prime.

Gameplay takes as much inspiration from Bloodborne as it can. From leveling up to parrying those ragdolls that enemies turn into after they fall. This game is everything Bloodborne was, except for dodging, which feels a bit obstructive.

The demo for Lies of P reminds fans starkly of its inspiration. For the most part, it would actually please the fans of Bloodborne. Here’s hoping the combat is a lot smoother by the time it launches.
