Popular media outlet Exputer recently shared an article. Going by its report, the website discovered a patent from the previous year. They published it last month on the Patentscope platform. Talking about the document itself, it proposes a gameplay mode that seemingly never ends. To be precise, it has been filed for Multiplayer experience. Activision wants to come up with a mode that can stay active as long as there’s even one player left in a match.
In other words, players may end up keeping dropping inside a map, like a battle royale title. However, given the nature of the patent filed by Call of Duty publisher, it relates more to a Multiplayer format. The patent is specifically titled “SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING CONTINUOUS GAMEPLAY IN A MULTIPLAYER VIDEO GAME THROUGH AN UNBOUNDED GAMEPLAY SESSION.”

Going deeper, the patent talks about how the ongoing modes for matches in games are bounded. Because they begin and reach to their end based on a certain time duration. Activision’s ongoing titles like Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2 are perfect examples of this conventional Multiplayer format used these days.
On the other hand, the company’s new patent might eventually change this way of playing online games. Per the document, an “unbounded gameplay session may therefore continue indefinitely so long as at least one player wishes to continue to gameplay. To facilitate an unbounded gameplay session, the system may score players using time-based or other parameters.”
