TV and movie adaptations of video games have surely gotten better over time. The success of Sony and HBO’s The Last of Us series is not hidden from anyone. This duo literally debunked every misconception fans and everyone else had regarding live-action video game adaptations. Before that, there was The Super Mario Bros. movie. Similarly, The Last of Us series took that success and critical acclaim to a whole new level. Thanks to that successful series, interest in Amazon’s Fallout series has increased tenfold.

The Fallout series has been in development for around three years now. It was announced by Amazon back in 2020, and ever since, fans have been waiting for any information regarding the same. It looks like Amazon was listening and has revealed some interesting details about this series.

Amazon’s series based on Bethesda’s Fallout franchise of open-world role-playing games is currently in production. The games have met universal acclaim and massive financial success. Maybe that’s the reason Amazon decided to partner with Bethesda to produce this series. For those unaware, it is being helmed by none other than Jonathan Nolan, the creator of Westworld and one of the writers of The Dark Knight Trilogy.

Amazon has finally decided to reveal some new information about it. Recently, the Amazon Prime Video X (formerly Twitter) account posted a short video showing text in the style of Fallout terminals. It relayed some interesting text in relation to the upcoming series. That text was “12 April 2024.”

Previously, fans had found out that the Fallout series will star none other than “Walton Goggins” as a Ghoul. For those unaware, Ghouls are a species of mutated humans that started looking very different as a result of Fallout radiation. Along with Walton, the show will also feature:

  • Ella Purnell from Yellowjackets and Arcane,
  • Aaron Moten from Emancipation,
  • Moisés Arias of Hannah Montana and The King of Staten Island,
  • Kyle MacLachlan from Season 2 of Agents of Shield and Twin Peaks, and
  • Sarita Choudhury from Homeland.

While much is still a mystery about this series, fans at least know its launch date. Which is better than nothing.

Amazon is also working on a God of War series

Following the success of 2022’s God of War Ragnarok, Amazon decided to fast-track the series based on this franchise. They had announced the series a while ago without any context, but seeing how popular the franchise got, they quickly announced that the game’s director, Cory Barlog, will be involved in the production and that it would be heavily inspired by the 2018 installment.

Aside from that, there’s no more information on that project. Fans might have to wait a little longer, though, given that it only went into active production late last year. The only thing to hope for is for all these projects to match the quality of The Last of Us series, a tough but possible target.
