Even though the Xbox exclusives Halo series is nothing short of a jewel in itself, fans expected more from Halo Infinite, the most recent installment of the game. Thus, they demanded a multiplayer experience or, in the absence of one, at the very least, a split-screen one.

But with the recent cancellation of the feature by 343 industries, a fan took the responsibility upon himself and found a way to play Halo Infinite on a split-screen.

Playing Halo Infinite Split-screen on Xbox One

A recent update given by 343 industries to fans saw a lot of backlashes as both players’ reviews thought it ruined the game. The update was about not including the split-screen feature in the game that fans waited for even before the release of the game. But since the development team thought otherwise, a fan decided to take matters into his own hands.

As of recently, a fan by the name of Alexis (@Zeny_IC) found a workaround to play Halo Infinite split-screen on Xbox One. A video also shows how anyone with an Xbox One or X|S and a Halo online friend waiting in the menus.

In a demo video shared by Halo Creation, it was shown how fans can jump around in intricate menu selections to exploit the feature of the online friend list to play on split-screen.

Although it might take some time to get it on the first try, fans can make sure that the glitch actually works. The only downside to this is the low-resolution and delayed gameplay. This is due to the fact that the machine cannot handle loading two environments in one.

Why did Halo not launch the split-screen feature?

Along with the technical difficulty that the game devs experienced while testing the split-screen feature, it was also reported that the Forge feature was also delayed. According to Halo’s creative lead, Joseph Staten in March 2022, “The non-linear, wide-open sections of the campaign present some big challenges for split-screen that have taken us more time to solve.”

Later, it was revealed to him on the first of this month that “We have had to make the difficult decision to not ship split-screen campaign co-op.” He also confirmed the reason by saying, “take the resources we would use on that” to instead tackle other development priorities. Worse, the studio has additionally delayed its “season three” to release the ‘Forge’ feature before.
