Alan Wake 2 is having a dream run since its debut last week. Remedy’s latest installment in its own connected universe is full of some of the best horror moments and a gripping storytelling. But now, it seems like some users are getting tired of them – way sooner than expected. They are simply not liking what the devs have done with a specific element in the survival-horror game.

By now, almost everyone who has played Alan Wake 2 must be aware of the fact that it’s got a uniquely terrifying Game Over screen. At first, it ended up scaring the hell out of many who initially jumped into the sequel. Unlike the original installment, the second part has got a different way of giving the players chills down their spines. Sadly, it doesn’t seem to be working now for some users. They are getting bored!

Remedy’s title has got two playable protagonsists. While one is FBI agent Saga Anderson, the other character is mystery novelist Alan Wake. Speaking of the scary Game Over screen, it occurs while playing the missions featuring Wake. Whenever he dies, one can see his disturbing face popping up in live-action.

Now, few of the Alan Wake 2 players are getting bored with this aspect of the survival-horror game. According to them, Remedy has overdone the efforts in terms of giving these kinds of jumpscares. A Reddit user recently took to the social media platform while expressing their frustratation with the “cheap jumpscares.”

Per the Redditor, there’s nothing too scary about the Game Over screen beyond the loud noises and the face itself. If anything, it’s getting old and extremely annoying.

It will be interesting to see if Remedy responds to this kind of reaction or not going forward. Especially given the fact that its take on the game over screen has been praised a lot by most of the fans. But if there are some users who are not too impressed, perhaps the devs should put extra efforts to scare them even more.

What to expect from Alan Wake 2 in the near future?

Except for a few instances, like the one mentioned above, Remedy’s horror sequel is actually performing pretty nicely. As far as the reviews are concerned, it’s got a whopping 89 on Metacritic. Simply put, it’s one of the best-rated horror games of 2023 while also slowly emerging to be among the Game of the Year contenders.
