Unfortunately, that won’t be happening. A recent report suggests that Microsoft is eliminating the entry point for many gamers to this service. Just ahead of Starfield’s launch! While some may understand why this decision was made, fans will surely still be stumped.

Starfield is not very far from launch now; most of the game’s fans have already purchased their preferred version of the game. However, many gamers were counting on the Xbox Game Pass service to be able to play this game without making a purchase. Unfortunately, that won’t be possible anymore. Xbox Game Pass service at the moment costs $16.99 per month on Xbox consoles and $9.99 per month on PC. There was also a trial version that gave gamers a couple of weeks for just a dollar.

This is pretty abrupt on Microsoft’s part. As mentioned above, many gamers might have hoped to get their hands on Starfield through the Xbox Game Pass trial, and now that chance is gone.
Many suggest that it is a deliberate move on Microsoft’s part, as they want people to actually purchase the game. This move would not affect many Xbox fans or those who have already subscribed to the service. Although, this could drive away those who were looking to first try the game during this trial period.

One wonders if this trial will come back once the dust settles. There’s a high chance it would, as Microsoft seems to have a lot of faith in the upcoming Bethesda RPG. They are surely hoping for incredibly high sales and numerous new subscribers to the Xbox Game Pass service without the need for a trial.
They might even be right; this game is already getting a universally positive response from pretty much everyone who has gotten a chance to try it out.
