Assassin’s Creed Mirage is setting the stage on fire, even before its release. The game is set in 9th-century Baghdad and will feature some familiar faces from the previous titles of the series. Ubisoft dropped a new trailer and fans are excited with the level of detail. There are already a lot of expectations from the game thanks to the new progression system and a glimpse into Basim’s arsenal. In the new video, the devs of Assassin’s Creed Mirage talk about how they recreated the ancient city and where they got their inspiration from.
The devs claim that the upcoming AC title will be a return to the older titles of the franchise. This has many fans believing that Assassin’s Creed: Mirage will truly be something special with its visuals and stealth gameplay.

The new Assassin’s Creed title is based in Baghdad, one of the largest and most developed cities of the ancient world. The city was the capital of the Abbasid Empire and a hub of scientific discovery and innovation. Attention to detail has always been a staple for Assassin’s Creed games. Hence, preserving the essence of ancient Baghdad is at the core of the new AC title. Artistic Director Jean-Luc Sala says that studying the lost city’s details convinced the devs that Baghdad is the perfect place for a new game.
Baghdad’s influence on all modern cultures is beyond any doubt. Understandably, bringing the 9th-century city to life is a challenge for the devs. The devs are focusing on preserving the history and culture of the city.

Being respectful led the team to develop Assassin’s Creed Mirage from a reverence standpoint. For this reason, maintaining authenticity is an integral aspect of the game design.
Collaboration with experts to re-imagine the lost city
The art team took advantage of the liberties with the creation of Baghdad. The book “Baghdad During the Abbasid Caliphate” is one of the foremost resources for the upcoming title. The devs consulted the book extensively for every detail. Ancient descriptions by travelers as well as archeological findings: all contributed heavily to the design of the game. Dr. Glaire Anderson is also part of the developer team to give insights on how the city looked during the Caliphate times.

Apart from the fortress Alamut, there will be four regions in Baghdad that players can explore in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The regions are called Karkh, Round City, Abassiyah, and Harbiyah. The city will have some magnificent buildings and eye-catching architecture.
