After a long wait, The Super Mario Bros. Movie has finally blessed the theatres. Despite the initial criticism this Nintendo movie got before its release for the choice of voice actors, fans are now praising this film and the performance of Chris Pratt and the other voice actors in the movie.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has already shattered a bunch of records. Perhaps the most notable one has to be the biggest opening ever for an animated film, surpassing Sonic The Hedgehog. These achievements are also sparking a debate among fans will Nintendo start its own cinematic universe. If they do, will it potentially rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe, better known as MCU?

There wouldn’t be anyone who hasn’t heard about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It has become one of the most popular series in the past decade, with millions of fans across the globe. However, the recent MCU movies and TV series were not able to match the expectations of the audience.

Now the great results of The Super Mario Bros. Movie can lead Nintendo to establish its own cinematic universe. Moreover, the Japanese giants have many interesting series.

And creating a Smash Bros. Cinematic Universe would allow them to access almost every Nintendo character like Link from The Legend of Zelda or Pikachu from Pokemon.

Chris Pratt, who voiced Mario in the movie, hinted at Nintendo and Illumination might have such plans, “It is very promising, as to like what we could expect over the next 10 years. Like an entire universe of these types of movies.” There is no one better than Pratt who understands the potential of a cinematic universe, as he is part of the MCU.

Further, Bowser’s voice actor Jack Black wants The Last of Us-famed Pedro Pascal to join The Super Mario Bros. Movie series. “You know, what if there is a more powerful, more evil villain? Then I may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend our universe against some other unseen force of evil. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Black told GameSpot, “Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.”
