The biggest ‘excitement killer’ for a gamer is when the title that they were eagerly waiting for ends up being buggy. We witnessed this in the case of Cyberpunk 2077 when it was first released. But, in 2023, the reports are getting even worse, and fans are not so happy with that. First, it was the PC port of the Last of Us, which had quite many glitches that made its way into the meme culture.

Now, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is reportedly getting negative remarks from the gamers’ communities. This backlash had pushed a Naughty Dog employee to talk about the main causes of such shenanigans.

The Last of Us has been one of the most revered titles on PlayStation. Released around a decade ago, the survival game became an AAA canon through its impressive narrative and storyline. Thus, when it finally made its way into PCs, the expectations were sky-high. But, unfortunately, rampant bugs and glitches hindered many gamers’ experience while trying the popular title.

The same phenomenon has happened for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Seeing the response from the community, it is even worse this time around. The action-adventure game by Respawn Entertainment was released across platforms but among them, PC users were dissatisfied with the product. This was because of the many bugs that hindered the game’s experience. After yet another AAA title backlash, Naughty Dog’s character artist took to Twitter to talk about these issues.

This itself is hectic and difficult. Walker was pondering about the difficulties that developers face, especially in regard to ‘unstandardized platforms’. The games today are graphically intensive and incorporating this into such platforms is quite difficult according to Walker.

Moreover, the developers are not purposefully rolling out glitchy games to the public. According to the Naughty Dog’s staff, when games are tested internally, they perform quite well. But when rolled out to millions of systems, bugs inadvertently happen. Thus, the developers issue patches to sort these problems out.

He pondered more about the developer’s difficulties and how staffs have to even work on weekends to make the necessary patches possible.
