Previously, it was reported that 2023 won’t see a standalone Call of Duty installment. However, now the latest news from the publisher itself has mentioned a great plan, especially after the record-breaking debut of Modern Warfare II. It looks like the makers are all set to maximize the profits even more, in a different way though.

Activision will release a new Call of Duty premium in 2023, made by Sledgehammer Games!

Coming from industry insider Tom Henderson the big news is regarding the publisher’s plans for next year. As reported by the scooper on Insider Gaming, Activision has confirmed a new premium for the year 2023. Per the filing, the company is “looking forward to building on its current momentum in 2023, with plans for next year including the most robust Call of Duty live operations to date”.

Moreover, Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier has mentioned that the ‘new premium for 2023’ is nothing but the previously rumored DLC expansion for Modern Warfare II only. While replying to an outlet, he wrote that the new Call of Duty coming out next year is just a continuation of 2022’s game from Infinity Ward.

“It’s called a full premium release because they’re probably going to market and sell it as a $70 game with new single- and multiplayer content. But it’s more MWII,” read his tweet.

Shortly after the massive reveal for the next year’s premium (technically a DLC), Jason also shared another crucial intel. In his tweet, he wrote that 2023’s game (or continuation of Modern Warfare II) will be developed by Sledgehammer Games. The latter is the studio behind last year’s Vanguard which didn’t receive much appreciation from the franchise lovers.
