It was recently reported that the software giant Microsoft is most like to make a deal with Activision Blizzard for a potential procurement. With big investors like Warren Buffett raising stakes on the deal being done soon, it is now possible that Microsoft acquiring Activision might happen sooner than thought.

Xbox soon taking charge of Activision

In a recent interview with Bloomberg host, Emily Chang, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer revealed that they are actually having a ‘positive’ approach towards the Activision deal, and things are rather smooth for now. He said, “I feel good about the progress that we’ve been making, but I go into the process supportive of people who maybe aren’t as close to the gaming industry asking good, hard questions about ‘what is our intent? What does this mean?”

Regarding this, he also acknowledged the global gaming market and the effect it might show on the industry. He said, “If you play it out over five years, is this constricting a market? Is it growing a market?” This actually raises the question of what the future might bring to the industry in the upcoming days if such deals happen simultaneously.

Spencer also added that he had never been a part of such a big deal before, because of the market that Activision actually commands with its games. He said, “I’ve never done a 70 billion-dollar deal, so I don’t know what my confidence means.”

Thus, even though he is not confident about the deal, he thinks that the deal might see some positive light. Regarding this, he said, “I will say the discussions we’ve been having seem positive.”

What might be the deals to strike during discussions?

If Microsoft is granted permission to purchase Activision, the company behind popular video games like Candy Crush and Call of Duty, has stated that it is making an effort to fix the problems. According to Spencer, Microsoft carefully considered Activision’s efforts to mend its ways before approving the transaction in January.

Discussing the fact that Activision is trying to overcome its problems and make it better for its employees Spencer said, “When I look at the work that they’re doing now — there’s always more that can be done — but I believe from the studio leaders there that I know very well, some of them former Xbox members, that they’re committed to this journey. And I applaud that regardless of the deal.”
