Many fans might have noticed a new device hanging at Link’s waist in Tears of the Kingdom. This device is hanging where he kept the Sheikah Slate in Breath of the Wild. Some fans believed it might be a meter to check how much magic he had. It could be similar to the health meter on the player’s back in Death Space. But the device’s positioning cancels out that idea, as it would be tough for a player to see the meter there.
There is a possibility that this device is a battery. In the trailer, we saw Link can use parts to run various vehicles across the Hyrule in TOTK. But one thing many fans might have noticed was a battery-like symbol on Link when using this vehicle. But Link didn’t attach any power source in the gameplay reveal.
Moreover, Link only had one green veil on this device on his waist in the latest gameplay reveal by Nintendo. However, many concept arts hinted that there would be six veils. It is possible that the number of veils will increase as Link continues in the story, meaning the battery would get stronger.

The 10-minute showcase also showed that Link would be fighting against a new enemy called Construct, which uses a mysterious power source called Zonai Charge. This mysterious device at Link’s waist could also be a Zonai tech. The link might charge this battery with the Zonai Charge he collects after defeating the Construct.
