The first season of the worldwide phenomenon, The Last of Us, has ended. The show had such popularity that it managed to surpass one of HBO’s biggest shows ever, The House of Dragons. In the final episode, the crew sprinkled in some amazing Easter Eggs, for the fans to talk about even days later. 

The last few episodes featured many interesting Easter Eggs, among them one of the most popular is Peter Field’s tribute to his wife. Peter is an ex-developer at Naughty Dog, who was one of the people who worked on the original games. In a recent tweet, he shared, “A Silly Easter Egg” that he had put in the games, made its way to the show.

Ex Developer’s tribute to his wife makes its way into the Last of Us series

The last episode of season 1 featured one of the most iconic moments in the series; the beloved, “Giraffe Scene.” During this scene, Joel and Ellie shared a heartfelt moment between them and their bond became stronger than ever. According to the fans, it is so emotional, it made some of them “bawl their eyes out.”

But according to the Ex-Naughty Dog dev, Peter Field, the giraffes and Joe and Ellie’s interaction weren’t the only spectacles of that scene. If paused at the right moment, fans can witness a blurry scoreboard that had the baseball field’s name, “Bethany Clare Field”, which is the name of Peter’s wife.

Peter had put this as a minor Easter egg in the game, as a show of his love for Bethany. But he didn’t know how minutely the team of HBO examined the games to prepare the sets. This is why Peter’s silly Easter Egg got to be in the final episode, immortalizing his wife’s name in yet another masterpiece.

However, later it was revealed that the board was coincidentally put in front to be in the visual of the scene. After knowing this, Peter added, “Actually, they changed the position of it so that it was visibly in shot.” Peter was ecstatic, seeing his little reference to his beloved, survived in the story. He said, “Such a cool coincidence. Endure & Survive little easter egg! Endure & Survive!”
