‘A Rival for Mario Kart’ Reports Suggest a LEGO ‘Open World’ Racing Game Is Under Development

LEGO and its toys have embedded themselves in the childhood of many. The franchise is so popular that they ventured beyond toys, to entertainment. We got to witness some hilarious movies in this regard. Now, rumors are pointing towards yet another venture that LEGO is making. According to reports LEGO soon will have its own racing game ‘LEGO 2K Race’. There have been many leaks regarding its release, and the game might even have open-world mechanisms.

LEGO 2K Race: a rival to Mario Kart?

Reports about 2K Games signing a deal with LEGO had popped up recently. For the uninitiated, they are the ones who brought popular titles like NBA 2K22, WWE 2K22, among others. This supposed partnership will bring a Mario Kart-like racing game to the fans. The characters would be from the LEGO universe with their intrinsic features and texture. The mini-figure LEGO racers will be an interesting aspect to see.

Moreover, the game supposedly has various game modes that the players could explore. The detailed descriptions of the modes are currently not out, but a few mini-races and lap races are expected. Additionally, the game will have sprint races as well.

Now, coming to the other features that the game might offer. The game may include exclusive on-road and off-road vehicles. These vehicles are even speculated to have transforming mechanisms while going over water. The game might offer the opportunity to customize your own vehicle. Especially as LEGO toys offer the same mechanism.

It does not stop there. What is a fantasy race without some powerups? Many unique powers are expected to be available for use in the game. These may include homing missiles, EMP blasts, mines, and many more.

The most interesting part about the rumored game is its shared world mechanism. The game is expected to offer an open-world mechanism similar to Forza Horizon, giving players a chance to explore the geography. The rumors about PvP being available adds more intrigue to the open-world aspect. We may even get to explore the paths with our friends.

In regard to the gameplay, fans were seen voicing their want to have more than just PvP. It seems like a solid campaign will do wonders in regard to marketing the rumored game.

All these should be taken with a pinch of salt as many of these are yet to be officially announced by 2K Games and LEGO. A robust update is expected in the near future.
