There are numerous games announced on a yearly basis, and sometimes those games get canceled. There are a number of reasons for that cancelation. This has happened to a number of Nintendo Switch ports over the years. In a similar vein, Final Fantasy XVI was in early development for this console but was canceled.

Now, yet another much-anticipated title has been removed from the list of upcoming Nintendo Switch titles.

Nacon’s recent attempt at cashing in on The Lord of the Rings IP with Gollum failed miserably. That game was not worth the name it carried. Other than being unoptimized, boring to play, and somewhat pointless, it had some weird DLCs, such as Elvish language DLCs and idle animations for Gollum. People saw it as a quick cash grab and steered clear of it.

This game flopped so hard that the developers of the game, Daedalic Entertainment, instantly halted any work. They might be on the verge of closing down; hence, fans can pretty much forget the Nintendo Switch port of that game. And it makes sense; they know no one would buy it, and all the efforts would be futile, given the fact that there’s only so much one can change about a game.

Nacon has taken this very seriously. They knew they had to make some tough decisions, and they did too. Other than canceling this dreaded The Lord of the Rings title, they are also canceling the Nintendo Switch port of yet another game, Robocop.

Teyon, the small developer behind the excellent Terminator: Resistance, is working on the brand-new first-person shooter based on the Robocop series of films, and it’s already looking pretty exciting. The game has many exciting new things going for it. It is said to have RPG elements, side quests, and much more. Fans are undoubtedly excited, all thanks to the effort this company made with Terminator. That game is pretty good and faithful to its IP.

The sad news is that Robocop might not be coming to the Nintendo Switch anymore. This cancellation was rumored after the cancellation of Gollum. And fans are disappointed but not surprised; they claim the game actually looked way too good for the Nintendo Switch to handle.

One would say bigger and better-looking games have made their way to Nintendo’s hybrid console, while others would say they were pretty dated. But none of them would get to play Robocop on the Nintendo Switch.

But one thought is that the developer and publisher might have removed the port from its release schedule to bring it to the Nintendo Switch 2 instead. It would reportedly be way more powerful and might be able to handle that game better than the Nintendo Switch would.
