HBO’s The Last of Us is considered by many as one of the best video game adaptations. It won’t be wrong to call it so, because of the amount of love that fans have showered on this show. Since January 15, fans have eagerly waited for Sundays to catch on the new episodes of this HBO series.
Aside from the fantastic performance by Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, the show attracted a lot of people because of its setting. The show features a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by an incurable fungus. Although people might have loved seeing such a world on screen, no one might want to live in such a world. However, this horror might come true, as this HBO adaptation’s release time has raised some fascinating speculations.
A weird connection between The Last of Us and a real-life deadly fungal infection

There have been reports from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about a rise in the case of victims dealing with a deadly, treatment-resistant fungal infection called Candida auris.

However, experts believe this virus is not a threat to the majority of the population, as most healthy people are not at risk of it. Some fears that it might not be a threat now, but it can evolve in the future into something serious. Now those who have recently seen The Last of Us might remember the first episode of the show.

In the first episode of the HBO adaptation, two experts were discussing how the Cordyceps might evolve in the future and become a threat to humanity. The experts were right, and it did happen on the show. Additionally, Bella Ramsey also stated her views recently that there is a possibility that TLOU events can happen in real life.
