Heavily graphic-oriented with an exquisite realistic touch is something seen prominently in the current generation of games. But, that was not the case several years ago. The gaming sphere began at an innovative point. Especially one, where developers brought in intriguing concepts, which after many changes and revamps became the ideas everyone adores today. Recently, Alexis Ohanian, the co-founder of Reddit and husband of Serena Williams was reminiscing the same.
He was seen talking about the beginning of a new gaming genre which is currently being adored globally.

Each game that we play belongs to a similar genre that was introduced years back. We can find the open-world mechanisms that we see in Genshin Impact in games that were released decades ago. Like this, there are pioneer games for each specific genre. Alexis Ohanian was talking about one such particular title. This game basically molded a new genre of its own. Reddit’s executive chairman was in high praise of the 1995 game Twisted Metal.
According to Ohanian, Twisted Metal was a ground-breaking innovation by developers SingleTrac. It was released by Sony and followed a unique concept that was not touched by anyone during that time. The title was set in dystopian Los Angeles and offered a wide variety of characters. Each of them had their own backstory which players could navigate. Rather than a race, one can call it a deathmatch of sorts.

The players equip themselves in weaponized vehicles, ready to go kaboom on the opponents. The rules were simple and addictive. To emerge as a winner, the player needed to be the last one standing. It sort of seems like Death Race, the popular film franchise but instead of racing, Twisted Metal had an arena-type vibe.
