Eldrick Tont “Tiger” Woods has had quite a stellar career in Golf. From directly contributing to Golf’s popularity as a mainstream sport with 82 PGA Tour victories, Tiger is truly a man who has done it all. Although, with such an outstanding pedigree, it is very easy to let it go to one’s head. But Mr. Woods has found a very intriguing, if not hilarious, way to keep himself humble.

Appearing on an episode of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” back in 2016, he divulges details on a “humbling” experience he had. Given his stature, fans must expect it to be a riveting story. But in a funny twist, all it took was some Call of Duty to confound the star.

Tiger Woods shares a humbling Call of Duty experience with Stephen Colbert

Tiger’s appearance on the show saw him elaborate on some really interesting topics. From maintaining a healthy friendship with his ex-wife to his long and expansive golfing career. But one segment of the discussion that caught everyone by surprise was when Tiger discussed his infatuation with Call of Duty.

In signature Tiger Woods fashion, he reveals that he treats the game with the same intensity as golf. Racking hours upon hours of gameplay experience, only to be devastated by an unforeseen factor. For some context, Tiger was taking some time off of golf since he had received two back surgeries. So he took up the hit FPS, Call of Duty, to pass his time.

But there is a catch. One of his favorite things to do is to grind and constantly work on his skills. With golf being out of the question due to his health, he devoted himself to the FPS.

Shooting up enemies for 8 hours a day with only a 30-minute lunch break in between became his new schedule. He thought he was good at finishing the campaign, but multiplayer was a whole different beast.

“I thought I was good cause I got through the campaign no big deal. And then I went online,” he said. “And when 7-year-olds are beating you from around the world.. humbling.”

That’s one experience almost everyone can relate to. While it won’t see a mention amongst the rest of his records, it’s a quintessential gaming experience. And Tiger is wiser for it.
