1. Equip the best weapons

There are six weapons available in the game, with the Stygian Blade as the default sword. You then unlock the other 5 weapons using keys that you collect as rewards during your run. We recommend you to use the ‘Heart Seeking Bow’, which only costs 1 key, as your primary weapon, because of its long-ranged attacks and decent damage. Given the fast pace of Hades, it will help you maintain a safe distance at the start. You can use ‘dash’ to dodge enemy attacks while shooting arrows from behind by activating volley fire.

An alternative to ‘Heart Seeking Bow’ is ‘Shield of Chaos’, that costs 3 keys. This will help you deal melee damage to the enemy. The shield attacks can knock enemies back. You can also use ‘bull rush’ to incur heavy damage or ‘hole discharge’ to block heavy attacks.

2. Chase After, Death Defiance and Chthonic Vitality

The ‘mirror of night’ shows the skills you can acquire for Zagreus. Skills are persistent in Hades, and for this reason, you might want to collect darkness to actively upgrade as many as possible. The two most essential ones here would be Death Defiance and Chthonic Vitality.

Through Death Defiance, you can prevent dying when your HP goes down to zero. What makes it more powerful is in level 1, it even restores your HP by 50 percent. This is highly beneficial since you might be dying a lot in the game or face similar challenges.

Next is Chthonic Vitality that regenerates a portion of your HP when you complete and move on to the next chamber. This increases your chances of survival.

3. Identify enemy tells

This is one thing you should learn, because this helps you determine the correct action to take. Before aiming and attacking, enemies will grow in preparation. As such, you will have to be quick in changing directions to avoid hits.

4. Constantly move and be aware of your surroundings

It would be best to be constantly wary of your surroundings and quick enough to respond to enemy actions. Running and dashing allows you to do that. Use these features effectively to improve your dodge. Each chamber has multiple set pieces that you can use against enemies.

5. Keep changing your keepsakes

On your adventures around Hades, you’ll earn Gems, which you can use with the House of Hades Contractors for some nice improvements. After each level, A Keepsake Collection is one of those early upgrades that you should obtain as soon as feasible.

Many of these Keepsakes, such as the Chthonic Coin Purse and the Lucky Tooth, are only used once. If you use them, they’ll be practically useless for the rest of your run. You may, however, replace your Keepsake after each boss using the Keepsake Collection. You may effectively target a build you desire by swapping mid-run using the Boon Keepsakes, which enhance the rarities of a forthcoming Boon and ensure it from a certain deity.

6. Be very careful while choosing Mirror Upgrades

In Hades, advancement isn’t restricted to per-run improvements. In your house, there is also a highly complex meta progression mechanism in the shape of the Mirror of Night. As time passes, you’ll be able to use keys to unlock additional mirror improvements, which you can then level up with the Darkness you earn with each run. After a few runs, you’ll see that each improvement in the Mirror is really a pair of upgrades that you may swap between before starting your next round.

Prioritize the following upgrades at first:

  • Greater Reflex (4th slot, 1st option)
  • Death Defiance (3rd slot, 1st option)
  • Chthonic Vitality (2nd slot, 1st option)
  • Fiery Presence (1st slot, 2nd option)
  • High Confidence (8th slot, 2nd option)
  • Golden Touch (7th slot, 2nd option)
  • Family Favorite (9th slot, 2nd option)

After this, begin investing in the last three Mirror improvements. Please don’t bother with Cast; it’ll be nearly useless with the damage output that you’ll have with this build.

7. Keep saving your coins

It’s quite tempting to spend any coin you get as soon as possible, especially because the game places a shop in front of you before most key boss fights. However, it would be best if you strived to resist this impulse because you’ll need that coin later.

When you reach the Styx, the main chamber to which you’ll keep returning contains a particularly huge shop loaded with some extremely powerful benefits – strong Boons, double-strength Poms of Power, and so on. This is the moment to spend all of your Coins because those products aren’t inexpensive.

8. Keep leveling up your Keepsakes

Every neutral character in the Underworld and every Olympian you meet has a Keepsake they can trade you for their first bottle of Nectar. These Keepsakes provide substantial bonuses that last throughout the run, and they can be enhanced as you use them more.

The two best Keepsakes you can use to level up are :

  • Old Spiked Collar (from Cerberus)

Adds 50+ HP when fully upgraded

  • Evergreen Acorn(from Eurydice)

The final encounter in each underworld takes 0 damage from the first 5 times enemies hit when fully upgraded.

9. Armored Enemies can be dangerous!

The ultimate threat of the Underworld is armored enemies. If this armor doesn’t protect an enemy, you can stun-lock them by repeatedly striking them with whatever weapon you’re holding. This is an essential component of Hades’ fighting system. However, armored opponents cannot be interrupted until their armor is broken.

Almost every enemy in Hades has an armored counterpart, and they should always be prioritized in a confrontation. They are not only more deadly since they are uninterruptible, but they also have a larger health pool and improved attack kinds. They may be very destructive in larger numbers. So don’t underestimate them, even if you think you’ve got a winning build.

10. Dying isn’t the end; keep at it!

Finally, each unsuccessful effort in Hades earns you Darkness to spend in the Mirror of Night, making you permanently stronger for your next attempt! If you’re still having difficulties after following all the previous advice, keep going and upgrading the correct Mirror upgrades, and you’ll be there in no time.
