Jayson Tatum set goals for himself at the beginning of last season. He wanted to make the All-Star game, average 20 points a game, win an NBA title, and make the All-NBA team. All of these goals were to achieve his larger goal – get a 90 rating in NBA 2K21.
And Tatum did most of the above. He made his first All-Star game, averaged close to 24 points-per-game in the regular season (26 in the playoffs), and the All-NBA third team. All of this, in Tatum’s mind, was enough to get him into the elusive ’90’s Club’ in 2K.
And he could do just that. Today, 2K has revealed that the Celtics’ Jayson Tatum will have a 90 overall rating in NBA 2K21. This is an upgrade of his previous year’s overall of 85.

Tatum is coming off a fantastic season with the Boston Celtics. His performances as the leading man for Boston led the team to the third seed. In the playoffs, Tatum was the leading scorer for the Celtics as they made their way to the Eastern Conference finals. However, they lost to the Miami Heat in a hotly contested series. The 90 overall in 2K is well deserved.
When asked about how he feels about achieving this goal, Tatum was ecstatic but assured fans that his focus was toward the future. “I feel good. You set out a goal before the end of the season, and once you accomplish that goal, it feels good. Now on to the next marker.”
Tatum admitted that while he did want to improve his rating next game, it is usually harder to improve after achieving a 90 rating. The host revealed that Tatum is only among a dozen players in NBA 2K to have a rating of 90 or higher.

Tatum is only 22 years of age and is part of the generation that grew up on the NBA 2K video games. For Tatum, his rating in the game is very important, as he considers it a marker of his performances in real life. “I enjoy playing the game. Everybody plays 2K…It’s a representation of reality, how you perform in real life. It translates to the video game.”
For a young player like Tatum, the sky is the limit. And in the coming seasons, he will be pushing those limits.
