Turns out that Lewis Hamilton has some history with Fortnite. While the racer is not behind the steering wheel of one of the planet’s most engineered machines, he likes to kick back and relax while playing the game with his friends.

Recently, during an interview with Jake Lucky, Lewis Hamilton spoke about how this collaboration came to be. While sharing details about the collaboration, Hamilton speaks about his connection with Fortnite. Hamilton starts by speaking about how he has always wanted to be involved with video games. He shares that he’s been a gamer since he was very young. He then says ” Particularly Fortnite was the thing that I would play with my friends. ”  

Hamilton shares about how he keeps up with all his friends by playing Fortnite while traveling. He then says ” This was the thing that kept me and my friends together.” He then goes on to express how he never expected to have a character of himself in the game. The Mercedes driver spoke about how he liked LeBron James’ collaboration and mentioned how the Epic Games team reached out to him and got things fired up.

With Lewis Hamilton in the game, many fans of Formula 1 are turning their heads towards Fortnite. With such collaborations, Epic Games looks to narrow the divide between eSports and what people usually call sports.

What to expect from the Lewis Hamilton collaboration?

Lewis Hamilton joins a growing roster of sports stars and celebrities who have been featured in Fortnite’s Icons series. Previous additions include LeBron James, Neymar Jr., Ariana Grande, and Marshmello. The Lewis Hamilton Fortnite skin includes a race-suit-like outfit, and a more casual alternative outfit featuring a shirt and shades.

Notably, the Fortnite set includes Roscoe, Lewis Hamilton’s vegan bulldog, who has gained fame on Instagram with 961K followers. Roscoe appears as dangly back bling and can also be seen perched on the front of Hamilton’s glider, resembling a surfboard. The Lewis Hamilton Set is set to launch in Fortnite’s premium store on Friday, November 17, 2023. Players will have the opportunity to acquire the new skin and experience the unique additions associated with the set.
