Everybody likes to indulge in their favorite video games from childhood, and Lewis Hamilton isn’t an exception! The popular pro-racer has just posted a video of him playing his favorite childhood game, Ayrton Senna’s Super Monaco GP II. In fact, he’s now up for breaking his own record of an impressive 49-second lap!
The seven-time world champion, Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton, is currently the most successful racing driver in Formula 1 history. Bagging the most number of wins, pole positions, and podium finishes, Hamilton is simply unbeatable. He is currently racing for Mercedes in Formula 1.

In a recent post on his official Instagram, Hamilton declared his love for the retro Formula 1 racing game, Super Monaco GP II. As soon as he landed in Montreal for F1’s Canadian GP, Hamilton headed straight into a retro video game shop to get himself a Sega Genesis.
Lewis Hamilton loved Super Monaco GP II as a child
Not only just the popular retro hand-held console, but he also got himself a copy of Ayrton Senna’s Super Monaco GP II. As fans would know, Ayrton Senna was Lewis’s childhood hero, and the three-time world champion had inspired him to become an F1 driver!
As expected, Lewis Hamilton played some Super Monaco GP II and soon got pretty competitive with himself. “Naturally, I got super competitive with myself. My personal best right now is a 49-second lap, pretty sure I can beat that tho. That was only after a few tries.” the caption to his post read.
The seven-time world champion also told his fans his intention to continue trying to beat his personal best. “I’ll let you all know when I beat it.” the happy F1 racer proclaimed.

After his back injury in Azerbaijan Grand Prix, fans weren’t expecting the Englishman to show up for the Canadian GP. Surprising his fans, Hamilton confirmed he will not miss the upcoming Grand Prix “even when it’s painful.”

What is Super Monaco GP II?
As the name suggests, Super Monaco GP II is an F1-based racing game for the Sega Genesis. It is arcade-style, released back in 1992. Moreover, the three-time world champion Ayrton Senna sponsored the title as he won the Monaco GP 6 six times!
