This cryptic teaser featured a clock, with its hands following the normal time path until it skips over 12 and goes straight to 1. This has led to theories regarding the new game being a reboot of the first game.

On May 12, 2023, during an appearance on the Xbox Two Podcast on YouTube, industry insider Jez shared some brand new insights about the upcoming game. He revealed that the upcoming Mortal Kombat game is indeed a reboot of the very first game, and is looking forward to a potential September 2023 launch window.

Mortal Kombat is known for featuring wacky guest characters, and this new game will continue the tradition. According to reports, among the guest fighters, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s iconic fantasy berserker, Conan the Barbarian, will be making an appearance alongside DC’s Peacemaker and the terrifying antagonist of Amazon Prime’s popular show, Homelander.

Other reports and leaks have shared that the game will be released on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. It will be available in three versions: Standard ($69.99 on PS5, Xbox; $59.99 on other platforms), Premium ($109.99), and Kollector’s ($249.99 on PS5, Xbox). The leakers have also shared that an official announcement is very close.
