WWE Icon and one of the last remaining remnants of the attitude era, John Cena, is a name that everyone has heard of. The community can argue about his wrestling ability not stacking up, but the veteran delivered guaranteed entertainment every time he showed up on the TV screen. The 44-year-old wrestler has also championed the ‘Make a Wish’ foundation and not just WWE’s world title.
In his time with the promotion, the veteran wrestler has fulfilled 650 wishes, which is also a record no other celebrity has been able to match. He was not just a locker leader, but he lead the roster by becoming a role model everyone can follow.

John Cena did not have a great start within the promotion in his early days, as he had to come up with a gimmick that fans can get behind. A rumored story on the internet states John Cena’s love for freestyle and Hip Hop was accidentally discovered by WWE’s management. His freestyle and amazing mic work quickly helped him to turn his career around. The 16-time-world champion became a fan favorite with his Thuganomics character.

When most wrestlers would look inward and shift their focus on their career, John Cena kick-started charity work to help out fans who needed his help. Speaking with InsideRopes, veteran wrestling commentator Jim Ross highlighted this side of the superstar.
“John’s probably granted more Make-A-Wish appearances and things than anybody ever in Make-A-Wish. That’s hard. People have got to understand how hard that is because we all know, Make-A-Wish is something that is done for these terminally ill children. Meaning, they know the hand they’re dealt, they know they’re not around for much longer.”

“So to be able to experience that–and Cena just didn’t do drive-bys; he’d go meet with them. He’d sit and talk with them. And I know that that would be something he’d have to process and still go out and work–and it wouldn’t be easy to go through that dialogue, those conversations with those children.”
