Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 doesn’t come out till 2023, but the hype around the PlayStation exclusive doesn’t seem to come to be coming to a stop. Earlier this month, Venom voice actor Tony Todd shared little details about the game. Now, it’s the Vice President of Marvel Games himself who has some news for the fans.
Insomniac Games announced Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 during the PlayStation Showcase 2022, earlier this month through a trailer. The game is the successor of 2018’s Spider-Man and finally welcomes Venom to the franchise.

PlayStation: the “darker” story in Spidey’s next adventure
The trailer itself tries to emanate the feeling of a darker theme, with Peter Parker and Miles Morales fighting their enemies alongside each other. Spider-Man’s long-time enemy, who later joins forces with him in the comics for a while, Venom, also makes an appearance at the end of the teaser, emerging from the dark streets of New York City.

Now, Bill Rosemann, Vice President of Marvel Games, comparing the title to a classic movie to express his views, said, “If Marvel’s Spider-Man was Star Wars, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is kind of our Empire Strikes Back. It gets a little darker. It’s the next big chapter,” in a This Week in Marvel podcast.
Venom being a part of a game that is said to have a darker theme is no coincidence. The Symbiote has always been one to cause havoc whenever Spider is around. But if he’s an ally or an enemy, no one knows.
