Fans had a lot of hopes with Mortal Kombat 1. The latest franchise entry promised to give a unique experience with revamped gameplay and bring back many characters. However, since its release, fans have been complaining about how bad the game looks on the Nintendo Switch. And that’s not the end.

Many players have compared it to its predecessors. And many are of the opinion that MK11 played much more smoothly and had better features than Mortal Kombat 1.

Mortal Kombat 1 feels rough around the edges

NetherRealm Studios has been teasing the community with snippets from the game for months. However, now that it’s finally here, fans are pointing out multiple issues that should have been addressed by the devs during development. The initial glimpses into Outworld showed a lot of promise. Yet, there’s something missing in Mortal Kombat 1 that hinders the entire experience.

Players were promised a fresh beginning that looked to revamp the entire lore. Its prospects kept fans excited for four years, only to ultimately result in poor feedback from the community. The sentiments of players criticizing the decision to make the game available on the Switch may be understandable. However, the overall community reaction is a bit surprising. Granted, many fans still believe Mortal Kombat 1 is one of the best releases of 2023, but the general experience seems to be underwhelming for a title from such a massive franchise. A post has gone up on the Reddit group r/MortalKombat that seeks to understand fans’ take on the newest entry to the Mortal Kombat universe.

The original post says that Mortal Kombat 1 doesn’t feel like a game that spent 3/4 years in the making. Being unable to tag or pin moves is something people were surprised to discover, especially since you could do that in MK11.

Under the post, a lot of fans have come together to highlight their issues with the game. They have taken issue to aspects like tagging moves, customization options, and even bugs.

However, some have also highlighted the positives. Players believe that the single-player campaign and the Kameo system help to keep the game fresh.

One player, however, has a long list of things that don’t sit well with him about Mortal Kombat 1. No loadout or skin change option has left them unhappy. And the player seems pretty irked about being unable to select their own hidden characters. Furthermore, they believe the game should have had more skins and gears. And those that are there are extremely difficult to keep track of. Meanwhile, another player thinks being able to practice while waiting for ranked matches would be a cool feature.
