The third test  match of The Ashes 2019 between England and Australia will be their third in the ICC World World Test Championship

England would want to level the series, while Australia will be looking to retain The Ashes with a win. A rejuvenated England with Jofra Archer will face off an Australian side without their talisman.

Match Details:

The third test match of The Ashes 2019 between England and Australia will be played at Headingley, Leeds starting on Thursday, August 22.

Team News:

England

Joe Root at No. 3 would be a little concern for England as he has not been amongst runs. England though, are rejuvenated with Jofra Archer, who they will expect  to come good once again. Ben Stokes is another player they will be relying on, after a hundred in the previous test match. England have already announced their 12 man squad, and Sam Curran might be the one to sit out.

Australia

Steve Smith would be a big loss for them, but the way Marnus Labuschangne batted as a concussion substitute, it would certainly have eased a few nerves. Australia haven’t announced their team yet, but they are expected to bring James Pattinson back, most probably at the expense of Peter Sidle. They would want David Warner firing, especially the absence of Steve Smith. Pat Cummins now seems to be ever reliable, and could be difficult to face on the Leeds pitch.

Predicted Playing XI

England

Jason Roy, Rory Burns, Joe Root, Joe Denly, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, Jack Leach.

Australia

David Warner, Cameron Bancroft, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Travis Head, Matthew Wade, Tim Paine, Pat Cummins, James Pattinson, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazelwood

Weather and pitch report

After a rain affected Test match at Lord’s, it is nice to see a dry forecast for the duration of the test match.

Though the Headingly pitch is not as fast as it used to be, it is still expected to be difficult to bat.
