Mexican International Javier Hernandez’s inclusion in the Mexican team squad facing Cuba on July 9, competing for the Gold Cup, remains uncertain after the striker sustaining an injury in a friendly Gold Cup warm-up match against Honduras on Wednesday.
This incident occurred in the 41st minute when the Manchester United star collided with Honduras defender Brayan Beckeles while trying to collect a long ball. Javier Hernandez immediately signalled for medical help and was then taken straight to the hospital. His place was taken by Mexican striker, Oribe Peralta. It was later confirmed that Chicharito suffered a collarbone fracture and further evaluation was needed to be done.
It has been a great disappointment for the Mexican side. Javier Hernandez was a key player for Mexico and Miguel Herrera, the Mexican coach said “Yes, it affects the teammates …we still keep working. Yes, an extraordinary player falls, but we keep moving ahead.” All we can do is wait and see how their performance is going to be in the Gold Cup.
