Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid snapped up Eden Hazard from Chelsea last week in a record-breaking deal which could cross €150m. Los Blancos are undergoing a summer rebuild under manager Zinedine Zidane in his second spell at the 12-times Champions League holders.

Eden Hazard was at Stamford Bridge for an illustrious period of seven years after he signed from Lille in 2012. The Belgian star went onto win two Premier League titles, two Europa League titles and an FA and League Cup each with the Blues before making his big-money switch to Madrid this summer.

Former teammate and friend Emerson Palmieri has revealed what Eden Hazard last sent on the Chelsea WhatsApp group was as they begin to prepare life without their star-man. “On the WhatsApp group, the last move there was Hazard’s farewell. He said goodbye to the boys, since then, we don’t know anything else”, he told ESPN.

“It’s weird. He sent a ‘thank you, I love you guys’, and then it showed ‘Eden Hazard has left the group,’ I said ‘Damn, he really left”, the Brazilian added.

Hazard secured his “dream” move to the Santiago Bernabeu after a wonderful spell at Chelsea, in which he scored 110 goals in 352 appearances. Last season, the 28-year old won the PFA Fans’ Player of the Year and Premier League Playmaker of the Season for his outstanding individual performances throughout the season.

Hazard’s departure is a huge blow for Chelsea, who cannot even look for world-class replacements for him due to the transfer ban imposed on them. Maurizio Sarri has also left the club to join Italian champions Juventus as Roman Abramovich and the Chelsea board are touted to bring legendary midfielder Frank Lampard back to the club.
