Patch version 1.2 for Cyberpunk was recently delayed. Although the previous patch arrived at the expected time, the game had a shaky release last year, which created quite an uproar given the fact that fans waited 8 years for its coming. The game has been plagued with bugs such as players glitching through surfaces and floating vehicles since the release of its beta.
Recently, CD Projekt RED took to Twitter to reveal the delay in the patch 1.2. The studio made the announcement in a series of three tweets.
Firstly, CDPR announced that its IT infrastructure had undergone a cyber attack. The hacker had apparently copied the internal source code for Cyberpunk 2077, Gwent, Witcher 3, and an unreleased next-gen version of the game.

While we dearly wanted to deliver Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 in the timespan we detailed previously, the recent cyber attack on the studio’s IT infrastructure and extensive scope of the update mean this unfortunately will not happen — we’ll need some additional time. 1/3

The second tweet explained, “Our goal for Patch 1.2 goes beyond any of our previous updates. We’ve been working on numerous overall quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make sure that’s what you get. With that in mind, we’re now aiming for release in the second half of March.”
Elon Musk trolls Cyberpunk
Today, Elon Musk replied to this tweet, mocking the game for its shortcomings in trying to be futuristic. He wrote, “Delamain AI cabs should be able to drive themselves when you’re in them & be electric by 2077.”
While the cabs are meant to transport you to and from missions, for now, you have to manually drive them around.

With the launch of Patch 1.2, we will be about halfway through CD Projekt RED’s roadmap. An official next-gen release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X is expected in the second half of the year, following which Cyberpunk 2077’s expansions and multiplayer should release.
