Pakistan’s young and talented seamer Ehsaan Adil has been ruled out of the remaining of the ODI series against Bangladesh following a hamstring injury. Umar Gul who wasn’t earlier selected for the tour is named as the replacement. He is the fourth to be ruled out after Shoaib Maqsood, Sohail Khan and Yasir Shah pulled out due to injuries.
Adil is believed to have picked that injury during the 1 ODI which Pakistan lost by 79 runs, this being the second loss of Pakistan to Bangladesh in ODI’s. He was believed to regain his fitness before Sunday but has failed to do so.
“It was expected that he would get fit ahead of the second ODI but his recovery didn’t go well,” Haroon Rashid, PCB’s chief selector, told ESPNcricinfo. “He has been called back and Umar Gul is being sent as an immediate replacement.”
Adil has played two tests and six ODI’s after making his debut in February 2013 but has faied to impress. He played a couple of games in the World Cup, including the quarter-final against Australia, but did not have much success, managing two wickets for 62 runs in 12 overs.
Pakistan however is blessed when it comes to the fast bowling department. A talented young bowler in Adil will be replaced by the experienced Umar Gul. Though he has been out of sorts due to injuries, his experience will be valuable and might be crucial if Pak has to make a comeback. This will be his fourth comeback since the knee surgery that forced him out of action throughout 2013.
