Eden Hazard had been phenomenal last season and deservedly won the PFA Best Player Award. He was indeed vital for Chelsea throughout the season. His consistency and dexterity helped the Blues win the BPL and league cup last year. He has already been compared with the likes of Messi and Ronaldo. Though the Belgian admitted he is not even close to them, on several occasions. Although if he can show the same consistency and add a few more goals to his tally, he’d be.
Mou hasn’t been very active in the transfer window and wants to improve on this current squad showing faith in his Old Guardians. Costa, Fabregas, Terry, and Cos. are all important pieces of puzzles but Hazard will be the utter most important player for them. His overall play has improved from season to season and with Mourinho keen to improve further on him and his squad, we don’t know what else might be stored in for us.
We have seen in the last few matches, the determination from Hazard to get on the scoring sheet. His number of shots have increased (though marginally) but there is a clear effort from him to contribute more.
His work-rate has struck as a surprise to most of the people and is one of the aspects that he has improved on. He is consistently falling back, supporting his team by complying with his defensive duties, one of the changes that further solidify Chelsea’s defence. Apart from track-back, he’s been good at tackling too.
After the departure of Mata, Hazard was given the No.10 jersey last season. This could mean that Mou might be looking to create the play around the Belgian like he did at Madrid with Ronaldo. This could be interesting with hazard being the focal point he will have the responsibility to keep Chelsea moving and Hazard has the efficacy to carry it. He was by far the best player last season and it shouldn’t come as surprise if Mou looks to build his team around him.

Hazard was undoubtedly the best player in BPL but often a player’s performance is judged on his goals and assists. In case of Hazard they don’t show the clear picture of his performance. His 14 goals and 9 assists don’t portray the important role he played in Chelsea’s success. Therefore he clearly needs to work and improve his stats by contributing through scoring goals or by creating them.

The Belgian international was the most fouled player last year with a staggering 74 times; understandably Mou’s protest against referees for not protecting his players. If Hazard can stay injury free and continue his form, I can’t see why Chelsea cannot retain their BPL title and be the first club to do so in last 7 years.
