“If you buy a digital copy of FIFA 21 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, your copy of FIFA 21 on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will be bundled with the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One copy, and you’ll be able to download and play FIFA 21 from the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store for free* once it releases on December 4th.”
How will players upgrade FIFA 21 to the current-gen version on a disc-less console?
The process is actually easier than it seems. In order to upgrade the game, the players need to have a unique identifier for the product. In case you need to upgrade your game to a disc-less console, you will need to replace the disc with a code for your issue. This is what you need to do:
- Select your platform
- Choose Codes and promotions for your category, and Replace the disc with code for your issue
- Complete the webform
- Provide proof of purchase
- That’s it! Now you will receive your code!

Will this upgraded current-gen version include all the updates and changes in the game so far?
Devs have said that they have been able to add only a number of the fixes and updates in the PS5, Series X, and Series S versions of the game.
“This is because final development of FIFA 21 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S was still taking place when FIFA 21 was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. These changes will need to be added later via Title Updates or via Server Releases.”

They also added that most of these items are fixes for issues or minor changes in the game. However, these include the Connection Monitoring functionality, which will not be available in the upgraded version at launch. But devs will be adding this feature soon.
The current-gen consoles will enhance the gameplay experience of FIFA 21, due to the powerful hardware and peripherals. Personally, we cannot wait for the 4th of December to try this out ourselves!
