Officials at WWE have made grand preparations for Drew McIntyre as we continue our venture into WrestleMania season. The wrestling faithful could have rest assured that the possibility of him joining rival companies like AEW was low because of his prominence in WWE programming. In the past few months, there have been a lot of rumors going both ways on McIntyre’s contract. This week, he was promoted for WWE’s return to Italy long after his reported deal was supposed to end, hinting at the possibility that he might have signed a new contract with the promotion. However, recent reports suggest otherwise.

Dave Meltzer provides an update on Drew McIntyre’s contract status

Drew McIntyre’s contract status remains a hot topic in the pro wrestling realm. His popularity has only increased after he turned heel and launched vicious attacks against a slew of babyfaces. According to earlier reports, Drew McIntyre’s current contract ends soon after WrestleMania. However, things might have taken a turn when fans spotted the promotion using the Scotsman on the poster to promote a live event show in Italy. They took this as a sign that he had extended his contract with WWE. However, a new report says this is not the case. Dave Meltzer said, “No, he has not signed a new deal, but he seems very happy so far with his new character and he’s really excited about it.

Drew McIntyre’s plans for WrestleMania 40 are not set in stone because of a wide variety of factors. The Men’s Elimination Chamber match is where McIntyre is set to compete. The winner will have a chance to potentially win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event at WrestleMania.

Meanwhile, the WWE also planned for McIntyre and CM Punk to engage in a storyline rivalry after Punk’s physical recovery. The Scotsman has made fun of the fact that Punk will miss his WM main event this year because he got hurt at the 2024 Royal Rumble PLE. He also took things one step further as he launched a vicious attack against a handicapped Punk that hinted at a feud after the Second City Saint returns.
