Hot Take’s Colin Cowherd predicted that Denver Broncos QB Drew Lock will be the Darkhorse MVP candidate. He was talking about ESPN’S mock NFL drafts where they drafted Drew Lock overall at the 15th position. Denver QB was drafted before famous names like Michael Thomas and Matt Ryan.

Cowherd criticized ESPN’s NFL mock drafts, saying that people tend to make easy and obvious in order to avoid pushbacks. Colin Cowherd also agreed to ESPN’s mock draft.

He stated that Drew can be a major candidate for the MVP in this upcoming season.

Cowherd compares Drew Lock with Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson

He talked about the tradition of quarterbacks taking a major leap in the second season. In NFL, this has been consistent since. Philadelphia Eagles’ QB Carson Wentz started it with a successful second NFL season as he contended for the MVP award.

In 2018, Kansas City Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes won the MVP award in his second season. Meanwhile, in the last season, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was named the MVP in his second season.

The upcoming season will witness six quarterbacks returning to play in their second season. Cowherd has hoists Drew as the potential MVP, while everyone feels it will be Arizona’s, Kyle Murray.

In NFL 2019 season, the Denver QB played five games. He had seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Drew had a completion percentage of 64.1%.

Kevin Cole disagrees with Cowherd on Lock

Meanwhile, Kevin Cole of PFF had different views about Drew. Cole stated that even if Drew was picked in the second-round draft it doesn’t mean the Denver QB will see a lot of success.

The PFF host chose the first round drafts over Lock. Cole said that he would rather pick most of the quarterbacks that came up this year, at least the first-rounders.

He summed saying that it is tough to give Drew that position despite his young age and the tools that he has.
