Galatasaray looked defeated long before the game’ s conclusion was being talked about. That is how much Real Madrid dominated the match.

Madrid started the match in a dominant fashion, thanks to 18-year old Rodrygo. The Brazilian could have, in fact, completed a hat trick in the next 14 minutes, when Real Madrid had a penalty. However, It was captain Sergio Ramos, who converted from the spot to make it 3-0.

Rodrigo, however completed his hat trick seconds before the end of the match, becoming the second youngest player to score a champions league hat trick after Real Madrid legend Raul.

“Hearing the Bernabeu singing my name is a dream come true,” Rodrygo said. “I’m so happy, it has been a joyous night but I must try and stay calm.”

“Rodrygo is a top-quality player and he came here to do what he is doing,” Zidane said after the match. “This is only the start, I really hope he can continue to do this well. We need to be calm with and not pressure him too much. I saw Butragueño play later on, not at the age of 18. We all know about the career Butragueño had at Madrid and I have seen him speak about Rodrygo. Everyone knows he is a player for the future. I hope he keeps on as is he is doing and can have a career like Butragueño did at Real Madrid”.

“To highlight something, his intelligence, he learns very quickly, he wants to improve and then he has it all. Technically he’s very good, when you also have the physicality, which he still has to improve, he does what he does on the field. He’s smart, because he also takes a break in his game when the team needs him, but technically he knows how to do everything with the ball.”

Rodrygo has scored five times in his first six appearances for the club in all competitions.”Hearing the Bernabeu singing my name is a dream come true,” Rodrygo said. “I’m so happy, it has been a joyous night but I must try and stay calm.”

Another Real Madrid player Karim Benzema also registered a special record to his name after his brace. He became the only player other than Lionel Messi to score in 15 consecutive Champions League matches.

Speaking about Benzema, Zidane said: “His numbers speak volumes, anyone who loves football sees the quality he has. We have spoken a lot recently about his goals but he is an important player for the team because of his link up play. He hasn’t changed from when he played with Cristiano, he is just more mature now, he is a father, a lot has happened in his life and that is shown on the pitch”.
