The main event of the first edition of AEW Rampage certainly lived up to its expectations, as it was an eventful one. AEW Women’s World Champion, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D successfully defended her title against a motivated Red Velvet. The match was in Baker’s hometown of Pittsburgh, making it a special one for the Champ as the fans were boundlessly supporting their hometown hero. Unfortunately, Baker had to wrestle with a broken wrist.

Britt Baker defended her title with a broken wrist
Britt Baker was in full flow when she fought Red Velvet on AEW Rampage. The Champ had the backing of her hometown crowd. On the other hand, Velvet received a hostile reception from the fans as they booed her for every move she pulled off. Finally, Velvet couldn’t get over the line as Britt Baker applied her deadly lockjaw, to which Red Velvet tapped out.

During the match, Velvet fought smartly as she repeatedly attacked the broken wrist of Baker. During AEW Fyter Fest, Baker injured her right wrist during her title match against Nyla Rose, which she won. But the damage she had on her wrist did not heal completely. Baker went into the match with the injury and came out of it with an impressive win.
Baker, galvanized by her victory even after having a broken wrist, took to Twitter to share her glee. Britt tweeted she is still the Champ even after having to wrestle with a freaking broken wrist.
Baker imitates a similar attempt to what Kurt Angle did in his Olympic win
The historic gold medal victory of Kurt Angle in wrestling at the 1996 Olympics is a story that every wrestling fan knows about. Afterward, Kurt revealed he won the Olympic gold with a broken neck. The WWE Hall of Famer suffered an injury during the tournament, but stayed strong and fought through the pain to gain the gold.

Britt Baker’s win is similar to that, as she won the match after enduring the pain of a broken wrist. Wrestling fans have already pointed out this similarity between these two victories. Britt was still exceptional throughout the match, and fans can’t say that the injury affected her performance.
