Arnold Schwarzenegger has achieved every single goal that he had set his mind to. From being a celebrated bodybuilding legend to a fan-favorite action hero and even a politician, the author and businessman has achieved a lot of success in his life. However, the journey was not always roses and rainbows for the Austrian Oak. Just like everybody else, he has also witnessed failures and setbacks, and these were the moments that made him stronger and made him achieve his goals in the end.

He recently shared his journey and talked about his moments of failure with Pardon My Talk on YouTube. He even shared how, after becoming governor, he received some pushback from people.  

Arnold Schwarzenegger talks about his political setback

When Dan “Big Cat” Katz and PFT Commenter had Arnold Schwarzenegger for their latest podcast on YouTube, they asked him about the failures that he faced on the way towards success. The host asked, “Was there a moment where you said, ‘alright I am done this isn’t gonna work out’?”

Arnold candidly shared, “On the way up there. Yes, there were losses in powerlifting losses in weightlifting losses in bodybuilding, and also politically.” He then narrated how he won the race for the governor and after one year, there was another special election. Despite Arnie planning to pass certain bills by the people, unfortunately, all four of them got rejected.

“The people basically sent a message to me saying don’t come to us with your problems, we elected you to work with the legislator, so you work it out with them.” However, Arnie apologized to the people and decided to talk to the legislators about future bills. This is how he won the battle that he lost previously.

Despite the struggles he faced during his tenure, Arnie made many path-breaking decisions. Do you know that he played a major role in disbanding a 200-year policy during his tenure as governor? But this was not without struggle.

Arnold Schwarzenegger abolished gerrymandering during his tenure

During a talk with the YouTube channel Be Stoic, Arnie spoke about how he ended up being the first governor to abolish the 200-year tradition of gerrymandering. By using gerrymandering political parties could manipulate borders so that the voting system favors their party and they can get the most votes from a particular area. “We threw it out. And yes, it was a battle like hell,” Schwarzenegger exclaimed.

Growing up during the Second World War, led him to ensure that such decisions are taken for the sake of equality, he said during the conversation. “So it’s all about how do we create this equality and that’s what I was always shooting for,” Arnie explained.

As such instances reveal, almost always, one instance of failure was always followed by some sort of success for the seven-time Mr. Olympia winner.
