Dominic Thiem on receiving congratulatory messages from Roger Federer on winning US Open 2020
“Yes, he congratulated me, wrote a long message, which I was very pleased about,” Dominic Thiem said (quotes have been translated from German using Google Translate).
On his relationship with Federer, Thiem revealed that he was in constant touch with the Swiss maestro before the US Open. Like many others, he is eagerly waiting for Federer to return on the ATP tour.
“We are also in regular contact. In the run-up to the US Open, we kept talking on the phone, mainly because of the ATP stories. I’m very happy when Roger is back on tour. Everyone is like that.”
Currently, Roger Federer is out due to his knee surgeries. The Swiss master initially had right knee surgery in February but further complications in June forced him to have another surgery.
This ruled Federer out of the 2020 season. He has set his eyes on a comeback at the 2021 Australian Open.
