The NBA has entered the free agency, meaning many franchises will start making movies to bolster their teams next season. There have been no big moves so far in the offseason, but it could change if DeMar DeRozan decides to leave the Spurs and join the Detroit Pistons, which might be a viable location for him.
Since being traded from the Raptors, the 4-time All-Star has struggled to settle in with the Spurs. According to many pundits, he doesn’t like San Antonio and wants to move. The Athletic wrote a report where they suggested a move for DeRozan to the Pistons.
“DeMar doesn’t like San Antonio and doesn’t want to be there. If those guys leave, they land with Dwane Casey in Detroit. That relationship with the former coach is strong.

“Comes down to money (for VanVleet) and the situation in Toronto is rough with the taxes. VanVleet on the Pistons elevates his status as the number 1-2 guy on a team.”
If this were to come true, the Motor City could increase their chances to compete in the league. They also already have Blake Griffin on their roster and teaming him up with DeRozan might bring them to the playoff race.
DeRozan has a player option this year, and if he indeed wants to get out of San Antonio, this is the perfect opportunity for him.
For the Spurs, it could mean heading towards a potential rebuild unless their young players take the helm and carry the team into the postseason.
