On Thursday, the Green Bay Packers pulled off one of the most surprising moves in the 2020 NFL Draft. They elected to trade up in the first round and snagged quarterback Jordan Love. Not many understood why they needed a quarterback since they already have future Hall of Famer, Aaron Rodgers. The 36-year old is also under contract with the Packers for the next four years.
Rodgers has yet to comment on the move, though he personally reached out to Love after the pick. Speaking to ESPN, Love revealed, “Yeah, I was able to talk with him earlier. You know, really good guy. [He was] just congratulating me, and I was just letting him know that I was excited to be able to work with him.”
Honestly speaking though, some should have seen this coming from a mile away, especially Aaron Rodgers. Back in 2005, he was in Love’s shoes when the Packers roped him while Brett Favre was on the roster. Needless to say, Favre didn’t appreciate having a young upstart like Rodgers trying to overshadow him. The intra-team rivalry refused to let up until 2013, five years after Favre left Green Bay.

Rodgers evidently realises that he would be a massive hypocrite if he did to Love, what Favre did to him. On the other end of the scale, Rodgers may now know what Favre felt like when he first arrived.
Jordan Love said he has talked with Aaron Rodgers. Said Rodgers congratulated him on getting drafted.

Will the Aaron Rodgers-Jordan Love situation affect the team?
Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst told the team website, “Aaron’s been around a long time and knows what we’re playing for right now. We have the best quarterback in the National Football League and we plan to have him for a while competing for championships.”

Head coach Matt LaFleur also insisted that Rodgers is still a part of their plans for the foreseeable future. LaFleur declared that he loves working with him, so he is excited to see what the future holds for everyone.
Rodgers might have welcomed Love with open arms, but he may have choice words for the front office. This swoop for the 21-year old could potentially strain Rodgers’ relationship with Gutekunst and LaFleur. There is also the danger of Aaron Rodgers walking away from Green Bay.
