Did LeBron James Take an Indirect Dig at Shannon Sharpe for Publicly Calling Out the Lakers Star’s “Family Over Everything” Remark?

LeBron James had some pretty tough moments recently. He had an altercation with the coach of the Houston Rockets Ime Udoka in the Lakers’ victory against the Rockets. But he is having beef again with his one-time die-hard supporter and former NFL star Shannon Sharpe.

Shannon would come into the defense of the NBA veteran LeBron often before the two had diverging views over James’ GOAT status and the Miami Heat. Later, recovering from illness, the son of LeBron, Brony James, was going to have a basketball match at his college. LeBron took a position on the same that Sharpe disagreed with. Later James hit back at the former NFL star.

Did LeBron James take a hit at Shannon Sharpe?

After LeBron James shared that he would miss a Lakers game to participate in his son’s match, it didn’t go well with Sharpe. LeBron had reasoned to prioritise his family over his team and hence sacrificing attendance at Lakers games would be acceptable to him. “Family over everything”, James reasoned. Shannon known for his commitment didn’t think James was correct in that. He reasoned in the Night Cap show if James would miss the playoff and the NBA final for the sake of his son.

Shannon wanted James to be consistent in applying “family over everything” to NBA finals and playoffs as well. This led James to take to his Instagram posting his picture with his son making the USC debut. He captioned the picture “family over everything” and added, “And if you think differently we know where your priorities lie! FOE #JamesGang.” While James didn’t take the name of Sharpe it was very clear who was thinking “differently” and where was James aiming at. The veterans’ position on the Miami Heat had sparked the back and forth between the two.

Recently LeBron shared that he would have achieved the same excellence even if he had not gone to the Miami Heat did not go well with the Sharpe. The former NFL star wrote on X,” “Now I do think (James) is the GOAT but under these circumstances.”

Sharpe opined that LeBron was dismissive of Miami. He shared that he got into the GOAT conversations because of his stint at Miami. Sharpe added, “  You won two Finals MVPs. You won two more regular season MVPs. You went to four straight finals. LeBron, how can you say that your career was gonna be the same without going to Miami?”
