Manchester United midfielder, Marouane Fellaini, has denied that he hinted about the British record signing Angel Di Maria being a great deal for Paris Saint-Germain. The big Belgian was earlier quoted by a French TV station: “Angel di Maria would be a good signing for PSG. He is a world-class player.” However, the player later took on to twitter to clear the air: “Seems I have been misquoted from @telefoot_TF1 interview!!!!”
He further tweeted: “I said that Di Maria would be a good signing for any club as he is a great player. I also said if I were him I would STAY at @ManUtd.”
Di Maria has had a forgettable first season at United thanks to injuries and suspensions. A burglary in his home added to the problems. The Argentinian was close to joining PSG last year before the FFP regulations prevented the Paris club from signing the winger.
Sources say that he is set to stay for another season and prove his worth. “I’m not happy with my first year in England,” the 27-year-old admitted. “I moved here from Real to win titles and this season has been very bad for me. I’m frustrated because I want to do better. The fans in England have not seen the real Di Maria. I know I can offer a better level. This year was not good enough.”
The winger also talked about adapting to life in England and how it feels to be a part of the most successful club in England. “Adapting to English football is not easy. People told me the first year for a foreigner here is hard. And that’s true. My challenge is not for one year, but to become part of the history of Manchester United. The stadium is unique, the fans sensational – it is a fantastic club. My only frustration is that we haven’t offered the fans our best face every week. My dream at United is still to win the Premier League and Champions League.”
